Future development at Kingston’s Queen’s University is constrained by heritage buildings and landscapes as well as community resistance to expansion. DTAH studied the relatively cohesive group of buildings and landscapes to establish strategies to optimize land use efficiency, preserve heritage features, and enhance the character of the campus.

The campus plan calls for infill and intensification to meet mid-range needs, and general improvement through building design and independent landscape projects. It identifies where expansion should occur to accommodate long-term development needs, and outlines building patterns that would help integrate the campus with the community.
