The East Bayfront Precinct will be a mixed used community of approximately 6,000 residential units and 185,000 sq. m of office and commercial space. The 24 ha.site will be the first of the new waterfront neighbourhoods east of Yonge Street within the former industrial waterfront, ultimately extending to the Port Lands and Lower Don River revitalization areas.
DTAH (in joint venture with WEST 8 of Rotterdam) are leading a multi-disciplinary team in the design of the public realm including the streetscapes, waters edge promenades and boardwalks and storm water treatment facilities. The firm is also responsible for urban design of the proposed LRT extending east along Queens Quay.
Public realm construction began in 2009 and be largely completed in the next 5 years, establishing a strong commitment to the private development sector by all three levels of government. The project is being designed to meet LEED ND standards while providing a world class waterfront for the entire City.
